Our activities around the Europe Day 2018

Every year in May, the Europe Day takes place all over Europe.

The Europe Day, sometimes even celebrated as European Week or Month, is a joint action of the National and Regional Governments, the European Commission and the European Parliament and is always held around the two main days on 5th and 9th of May.
On May 5th, 1949, the founding of the Council of Europe took place in London, while May 9th was considered the EU’s birthday, as on this day the basic idea of today’s European Union was formulated with the
historical ‘Schuman declaration’, a speech in Paris in 1950 held by Robert Schuman.

Around Europe Day, a variety of events and actions will bring people together to discuss the topic of Europe and the future of the EU.
Follow the activities of our Understanding Europe Peer trainers on Facebook. In a total of 6 different countries and 18 different cities, 68 trainers organise 34 courses with a total of 748 students! And these are only the confirmed dates by now, so stay tuned!
