Barely two years after the referendum on Britain’s exit from the EU, the Brexit negotiations are in full swing. The media mostly talk about problems, sometimes more or less large breakthroughs of the complex process. Only one thing is clear: on 29.03.2019 the British EU membership ends. If the United Kingdom and the EU do not agree by then, apart from the economic consequences, the status of EU citizens in Britain and British people in the EU is an unresolved issue with a high potential for conflict.
Questions that students have repeatedly asked us in the Europe Understanding courses in recent years are: What are the main goals of the British Government in the current negotiations? What are the prospects for EU citizens in the UK? What are the consequences for the British and European economy and the mood of Europe? We discussed these and other questions with you and S.E. Sir Sebastian Wood.
