It is an important concern of the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe to present its current focus of activity<\/a>, mission<\/a> and finances<\/a> in a transparent way.<\/p>\n

According to the voluntary obligation developed by the initiative Transparente Zivilgesellschaft we want to provide the following information for the public:<\/p>\n

1.Name, Legal Domicile, Address<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The non-partisan Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe was founded in 1971 by\u00a0Pauline Schwarzkopf<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0in Hamburg, where the legal domicile is still located.<\/p>\n

The office and its tax and legal basis are located in Berlin since 2000:<\/p>\n

2. Our Aims<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The main goal of the Schwarzkopf Foundation is the support of the development of young people to politically aware and responsible individuals with the objective of strengthening the European idea, the European understanding and the combat against right-wing extremism, racism and anti-Semitism.<\/p>\n

Because of these aims we organize discussion events, seminars and debates. We visit embassies, exhibitions and reached out to students through our EU-Crash Courses. The adolescents experience politics and can participate directly in exchange with ambassadors, ministers, journalists, EU-parliamentarians, EU-commissioners, prime ministers, scientists, contemporary witnesses and artists.<\/p>\n

In addition we award travel grants and the annual awards \u201cYoung European of the Year\u201c, \u201cSchwarzkopf Europe Award\u201c, and the \u201cMargot Friedlander Award\u201c.<\/p>\n

Since 2004 the\u00a0European Youth Parliament<\/a>\u00a0is a project of the Schwarzkopf foundation, which supports the Europe-wide dialogue between youngsters. Think Tanks and International Sessions connect active young Europeans to further the intercultural exchange in Europe.<\/p>\n

The long-standing successful cooperation with the Inge Deutschkron Foundation completes the thematic focus on combatting right-wing extremism, anti-Semitism and racism. Both Foundations have committed their work for years to enhancing the knowledge of pupils and students about the horrors of National Socialism through talks, readings, and film screenings, and combating the rise of extreme right-wing tendencies in Germany and Europe.<\/p>\n

The Schwarzkopf Foundation was accepted as an educational institution by the\u00a0Bundeszentrale f\u00fcr politische Bildung\u00a0<\/a>.\u00a0You can find the charter of the Foundation here.<\/a><\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Proof of non-profit status<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Schwarzkopf Foundation is an independent Foundation by civil law. The tax office of Berlin recognized the Schwarzkopf Foundation as a non-profit association.\u00a0Here<\/a>\u00a0you can find the corresponding certificate. The previous one can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

4. Decision-makers<\/strong><\/h3>\n

5. Activity Report<\/strong><\/h3>\n

6.\u00a0Personnel structure<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Schwarzkopf Foundation currently employs 40 full and part-time employees as well as 4 volunteers and 9 student assistants. The network of the EYP is supported by about 3.000 volunteers in 40 European countries.<\/p>\n

7.\/8. Sources and Application of Funds<\/strong><\/h3>\n

9.\u00a0Association<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Since 2004 the Schwarzkopf Foundation operates as the international patron of the European Youth Parliament (EYP) which is also its biggest project. In close cooperation with the national associations of the EYP, the Schwarzkopf Foundation supports young people and their personal development.<\/p>\n

10. Funding<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Schwarzkopf Foundation sources most of its means through project money. The following partners contributed each more than 10 per cent to our annual project funding:<\/p>\n

– Funding from the European Commission as an \u201cOperating Grant\u201d in the framework of its funding scheme \u201cEurope for Citizens\u201d as well as project funding within the funding scheme “Erasmus+”.<\/p>\n

– Funding from the German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior citizens, Women and Youth as part of the “Demokratie Leben” project.<\/p>\n

– Funding from Stiftung Mercator for projects in the EYP, JIK and Understanding Europe Programme<\/p>\n
