Since 2003, the \u201cSchwarzkopf Europe Award<\/strong>\u201d has been awarded to institutions or public figures who have distinguished themselves in an outstanding way by a committed and dedicated service to either European understanding or the growing together of Europe. The awardee is selected by the award winners of the \u201cYoung European of the Year\u201d<\/a>, an award which is also granted by the Schwarzkopf Foundation, out of pool of nominations handed in by young people across Europe. Tomorrow’s decision-makers\u2019 select personalities or institutions of today who shape Europe with their dedication for a liberal, diverse and sustainable world.<\/p>\n Through the Award and the young jury, the engagement of people who are standing for democratic values such us freedom of expression or preaceful co-existense and a sustainable environment but also fighting against repressive, undemocratic regimes, corruption, ill-treatment and corruption, becomes visible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n This year the Schwarzkopf Europe Prize was awarded to the Norwegian filmmaker Deeyah Khan<\/strong>. In her cinematic works and beyond, she impressively deals with religious and political fundamentalists and perpetrators of violence as well as their radicalisation and gives young migrants a platform. Djihadists, perpetrators of violence, right-wing extremists - they all get confronted by the Norwegian filmmaker who partly shatters their fundamentalist beliefs. With her feminist magazine \"sister-hood\" she offers young Muslim women a supporting platform and creates a network of unheard voices.<\/p><\/div>\n 2019 \u2013 This year, the Schwarzkopf Foundation honours the civil rights initiative New Europeans, which is campaigning for an #EUGreenCard to ring fence the rights and status of EU citizens currently resident in the UK and Britons currently resident in Europe.<\/p><\/div>\n 2018 - Margrethe Vestager has been European Commissioner for Competition since 2014. The jury honored her inspiring interpretation of her role as commissioner and the courage she has shown in the past years fighting for fair competition. As a Commissioner, she pushed for compliance with EU laws, but also worked tirelessly to bring EU institutions closer to their constituents.<\/p><\/div>\n 2017 - Emily O\u2019Reilly is the EU Ombudsman who supports the integrity of the different institutions of the European Union and upholds the European idea in her work. She has become a role model for the European youth through her tiredless work against the erosion of the European Union.<\/p><\/div>\n 2016 \u2013 IHA Germany e.V. , Fl\u00fcchtlinge Willkommen, and SOS M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e for thei work with central challenges to the refugee crisis. Inter European Human Aid Association in Germany focuses on the protection and assistance on the EU borders. The initiative Fl\u00fcchtlinge Wilkommen brings flat shares and refugees together. SOS M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e Germany not only supports shipwrecked refugees in the Mediterranean sea but protects and guides refugees and migrants with the help of medical and psychological care.<\/p><\/div>\n 2015 \u2013 Neil MacGregor is a historian and one of the founding directors of the Humboldt Forum who has outstandingly dedicated himself to the European self-conception. He manages to unite cultural visions of the past, present and future in an extraordinary way.<\/p><\/div>\n 2014 \u2013 The human rights activist Svetlana Gannushkina works in an mpressive way for human rights in her native Russia.
