The Schwarzkopf Foundation is pleased that Margot Friedl\u00e4nder and Inge Deutschkron have been honored for their engagement with the honorary citizenship of Berlin.\u00a0<\/span>Both of them have been closely connected with the Schwarzkopf Foundation for many years. On Tuesday, all members of the Berlin Senate voted in favor of the honorary citizenship, which is one of the highest honors in the city of Berlin.
\nMichael M\u00fcller (SPD), Berlin\u2019s governing mayor, honooured the two women as \u201cspecial personalities from whom we all can learn a lot about courage \u00a0and humanity\u201d. Despite their age \u2013 the 96-year-old Margot Friedlander and 95-year-old Inge Deutschkron \u2013 \u00a0see it as their duty to share their knowledge and experience to young people, \u201cbecause they did not lose their belief in a future of a Germany without anti-Semitism, racism, and militarism \u00ab, emphasized M\u00fcller.<\/p>\n

In 2014, the Schwarzkopf Foundation founded the Margot Friedl\u00e4nder Award together with Margot Friedl\u00e4nder. It encourages young people to engage themselves with the history of the holocaust and today\u2019s culture of remembrance and to get active in the fight against today\u2019s anti-Semitism, racism, and discrimination.<\/p>\n
